Panda Express Menu Plate: Price, Calories & Best Combinations

When I want a meal that feels a little more filling than a bowl, the Panda Express Plate is usually the option I look at first.

It gives me one side and two entrees, so I can mix different flavors in the same meal without ordering everything separately.

According to the current Panda Express menu, a Plate contains 1 side + 2 entrees and can range from about 430 to 1,640 calories, depending on what I choose.

What Comes With a Panda Express Plate?

The Plate is pretty simple, which is actually what I like about it. I get:

  • 1 side
  • 2 entrees

For the side, I can usually choose from options such as Chow Mein, Fried Rice, Super Greens, or White Steamed Rice, depending on the current menu and location.

Then I pick two entrees like The Original Orange Chicken, Grilled Teriyaki Chicken, Broccoli Beef, Kung Pao Chicken, or other available choices.

The important thing is that the final calories can change a lot. A Plate with lighter choices will be very different from one loaded with fried or sweeter entrees.

Panda Express Plate Price

The price of a Panda Express Plate is not exactly the same everywhere. I have found that restaurant location, local pricing, delivery service, taxes, and special offers can all affect what I actually pay.

So, instead of giving one fixed price and saying it works everywhere, I recommend checking the price shown by your nearby Panda Express before ordering.

This is especially important when ordering through delivery apps because the online price may be higher than the restaurant’s in-store price.

Panda Express Plate Calories

Calories are one of the biggest things I check when building my Plate. Panda Express currently lists the Plate category at 430–1,640 calories per serving, which is a pretty wide range.

For example, the official nutrition information lists Orange Chicken at 510 calories per serving, while Grilled Teriyaki Chicken is 275 calories and provides 33 grams of protein.

Sides also make a big difference. Chow Mein has 600 calories, Fried Rice has 620 calories, White Steamed Rice has 520 calories, while Super Greens has 130 calories according to Panda Express nutrition information.

So if I choose Orange Chicken + another heavier entree with Chow Mein, the meal can become very calorie-dense. If I choose Grilled Teriyaki Chicken with Super Greens, I can keep the meal much lighter.

My Favorite Plate Combinations

If I am ordering for taste, I like combinations that give me different textures and sauces instead of two entrees that taste almost the same.

Orange Chicken + Grilled Teriyaki Chicken

This is one of the combinations I would recommend to someone ordering a Panda Express Plate for the first time. The Orange Chicken gives me that sweet, crispy and tangy flavor, while Grilled Teriyaki Chicken is more savory and protein-focused.

I usually pair these with Chow Mein when I am really hungry. If I want something lighter, Super Greens makes more sense.

Orange Chicken + Broccoli Beef

This one gives me a nice mix of sweet and savory. Orange Chicken is bold and crispy, while Broccoli Beef brings a softer texture and vegetable flavor.

I think this is a good choice when two people are sharing a Plate as well, because both entrees have very different flavors.

Grilled Teriyaki Chicken + Super Greens

Technically, Super Greens is a side rather than an entree, so I would build this as a Plate with Grilled Teriyaki Chicken plus another lighter entree, and then choose Super Greens as my side.

This is the kind of combination I prefer when I don’t want my lunch to feel super heavy afterwards.

A Real-World Ordering Example

One useful example comes from Panda Express’s own location pages. Its Indianapolis locations show the same Plate structure of one side and two entrees, with the displayed Plate calorie range of 430–1,640 calories.

That shows why I don’t think it makes sense to judge every Plate as simply “high calorie.” The actual meal depends on what goes inside it.

For example, if I build my Plate around a 275-calorie Grilled Teriyaki Chicken and a lower-calorie entree, then choose Super Greens at 130 calories, the result can be very different from choosing Orange Chicken, another rich entree, and Fried Rice.

Is the Panda Express Plate Worth It?

For me, yes, especially when I want more variety than a Bowl but don’t need three entrees like the Bigger Plate.

The Bowl gives me one side and one entree, while the Plate adds a second entree. The Bigger Plate goes one step further with three entrees.

I would choose the Plate when I am hungry enough for two entrees but don’t want to spend extra just for a huge portion.

One small tip I follow: choose the entrees first, then decide the side. The side can change the total calories quite a bit. If I already picked two heavy entrees, Super Greens may balance the meal better. If I am simply eating for comfort and taste, Chow Mein or Fried Rice is hard to beat.

Overall, the Panda Express Plate is probably the easiest middle-ground option on the menu. It gives me two entrees, one side, plenty of combinations, and enough food for a proper meal without going all the way up to a Bigger Plate. Prices and menu availability can vary by location, so I always check my local Panda Express before placing the order.
